Well, it has been about ten days since I installed WordPress and started blogging. I have connected a bunch of social networking accounts to this blog, and am in the process evaluating their usefulness. My measurement goals are about 80% centered around business networking, with the remaining 20% focusing on personal relationships and connections. So far, LinkedIn, Digg, and surprisingly, Twitter, are my favorites, and they each serve very different segments. LinkedIn seems to be an excellent resource for business relationship management and historical career records, Digg is, of course, probably the best user driven news site on the Internet, and Twitter does exactly what it says, it answers the question “Whatcha doin’”.
Facebook, which I just signed up for yesterday, is my absolute least favorite, both in interface, usefulness, and content. I have not really explored it fully, and I see some functionality that looks to be useful, so I will not yet make a final call on that site, but overall, I did not like it, and it felt very out of place and disconnected to me.
Over the next few months, I plan on writing up full reviews of all of these sites and resources, but I want to give each of them a fair shake until then, and work on developing some sort of reviewing methodology to judge them by, hopefully more on this soon. Until then!
